National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements

Naropa University participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA), which allows Naropa to offer online courses or programs outside of Colorado.

Naropa provides its students with internal processes that allow for the filing and resolution of complaints and grievances. See Naropa’s Complaint Policy & Procedures

Resolution of complaints should first be attempted through internal Naropa processes. However, if a student located in a SARA state or territory is not satisfied with the outcome of that complaint process, they may appeal to the University’s SARA Portal Entity at the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Not all student complaints or grievances are appropriate for review to the SARA Portal Entity. Examples of student complaints and grievances that may be brought to the SARA Portal Entity include (but are not limited to):

  • Veracity of recruitment and marketing materials;
  • Accuracy of job placement data;
  • Accuracy of information related to tuition, fees, and financial aid;
  • Accuracy of information about the Institution’s accreditation and/or any programmatic/specialized accreditation held by the institution’s programs;
  • Accuracy of information about whether course work meets any relevant professional licensing requirements;
  • Accuracy of information about whether the institution’s coursework will transfer to other institutions; and
  • Operation of Distance Education programs consistent with practices expected by accreditors and/or the C-RAC Interregional Guidelines for the Evaluation of Distance Education. More information on the SARA complaint policy and process may be found here: Colorado-SARA-Student-Complaints-Process.pdf
