Mica harnesses the power of animals and nature to remind people of their innate connectedness and belonging. Having grown up on a working family farm, she values the importance of collective work toward shared goals. As such, she is a strong advocate for the benefits of group counseling and cohort-based learning. She is a licensed professional counselor and graduate of Naropa’s Transpersonal Wilderness Therapy concentration. Since 2022 Mica has served as chair of the Nature-Based Transpersonal Counseling concentration in Naropa’s Graduate School of Counseling. A former therapeutic riding instructor, she has directed several equine therapy programs and therapeutic camps. As a clinician, she has found horses to be instrumental in helping clients form healthy attachments, particularly following experiences of adoption or trauma. She has also specialized in working with children and adults with neurodiversity, brain injury, and physical impairment. Additionally, she has worked with members of Denver’s unhoused population, helping identify their strengths, passions, and nature connections. Mica’s training includes EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Natural Lifemanship, and pre- and perinatal development. She has traveled and worked internationally and lives with her husband and two sons in the foothills near Golden, Colorado.
