Liz Long Rottman (she/her) is a somatic psychotherapist and group practice owner based in the Boulder area.
Her undergraduate degree is in Philosophy and the History of Math and Science from St. Johns College in Santa Fe, NM. Liz spent nearly a decade working as a somatic bodyworker in Austin, TX, and Boulder before earning her MA in Somatic Counseling from Naropa in 2020. In 2022, she became certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Liz has maintained a private practice since 2011, first in bodywork and later in psychotherapy.
Liz’s work in mental health began as a teenager, supporting people experiencing psychosis in unhoused and institutionalized settings. She worked with Caritas of Austin, the Austin State Hospital, and later joined Balsam House and Colorado Recovery in Boulder.
Today, her focus is on trauma, spirituality, psychodynamics, giftedness, and other forms of neurodiversity. She helps people find clarity in the midst of life’s complexity, and she works extensively with those navigating medically unexplained symptoms, with a particular interest in how the body expresses what the psyche cannot yet articulate.
Liz currently serves as the regional organizer for Sensorimotor Psychotherapy trainings in the Denver area and collaborates with the Institute on ongoing projects and teaching initiatives.
In both her clinical work and teaching, she advocates for addressing the unconscious systems of privilege and oppression we all carry inside ourselves with gentleness, honesty, and a willingness to stay in relationship as we learn.
Liz cares deeply about experiential learning and teaching from a place that is authentic, flexible, and grounded.
In her personal life, she lives in Nederland with her spouse, child, and the two “nicest cats in the world,” according to her friends. She enjoys all the classic Colorado things: hiking, camping, skiing, and more.
