Re-Membering: Bearing Witness to Ecological Suffering
On October 15th, CACE, MCIC, Wisdom Traditions, BACP and the Keating-Schachter Center for Interspirituality will host a 12-hour series of contemplative practices on the Arapahoe Campus Green, oriented toward bearing witness to ecological suffering. We will re-member our connections to the earth as the climate crisis continues to make our planet increasingly uninhabitable.
This is a chance to connect and drop into our bodies as extensions of our planet, and to re-member that our health is deeply connected to that of the earth. It is a chance to deepen our intimate connection to the earth as extensions of ourselves by more deeply acknowledging the harm caused to our ecosystems, and to realize our limitless ability to hold space for our own suffering, while finding grace, forgiveness, and equanimity through connecting with the beautiful energy of our planet.
During the 12-hour period, anyone can come and go as they please. We ask everyone who participates to listen to their body’s needs so they can care for themselves as an extension of listening to the earth and participating in its care. During the 12 hours, we will sit in silence, with opportunities for walking meditation and a series of other practices hosted by teachers from various traditions. We will also offer food, snacks, and refreshments to participants.
Please join us for this period of bearing witness.
