You are invited to attend the Jewish-Buddhist Interspiritual Dialogue, an event that is being organized by the Keating-Schachter Center for Interspirituality at Naropa. The event will be held on April 2, 2025 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm MT, in-person in the Performing Arts Center and on Zoom. Please register now!
Naropa has a long legacy of interspiritual dialogue, beginning with the first Naropa Institute summer program in 1974 and then with a series of Buddhist-Christian Dialogues from 1981-1988 featuring such luminous teachers as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Father Thomas Keating, Brother David Steindl-Rast and many others. The tradition of interspirituality continued with the creation of the World Wisdom Chair, a position held over the years by people from various spiritual traditions including Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, and Kobun Chino Otogawa Roshi. In 2005, Professor Judith Simmer-Brown created a graduate course in interreligious dialogue, one of the first of its kind in the country. And in 2023, the Keating-Schacter Center was created to keep the tradition of interspiritual dialogue alive at Naropa.
At times like these, where things feel more divided than ever, the importance of dialogue in fostering understanding, respect, and collaboration becomes even more important.
