General Guidelines 

We will not review submissions which do not adhere to these guidelines. 

  • Artistic Intelligence only! Please note: We are not accepting submissions of AI-generated writing or artwork. 
  • 1-3  poems (4 pages max) of previously unpublished work
  • 4 pages of prose,  cross genre, interviews, or other hybrid works.  
  • 4 pieces of visual art – only one will be selected per artist (exceptions may be made for truly exceptional work)  
  • Artwork should be submitted with minimum 300DPI; all artwork will be published as grayscale (please submit your art in its original color format. We will take care of this in the design process should your work be accepted. . 
  • For translations, please include both the original language and English version; it is the writer’s responsibility to receive publication rights for the original piece.  
  • Other than instances of specific creative intent, we adhere to standard English grammatical rules, spellings as listed in Merriam Webster, and style as determined by the Chicago Manual of Style.  
  • We use the Oxford comma unless a contributor specifically wishes not to. 
  • Simultaneous submissions are welcome, however, if your piece is accepted by another publication before ours, please let us know so we can withdraw it from our consideration. 
  • Rights to your piece remain your own. If your piece is subsequently published, we ask that you note that its original publication was in Bombay Gin Literary Journal. 
  • Must use submittable. We will not accept work that has been mailed or e-mailed unless solicited.

 

We’re not able to offer monetary rewards at this time. All contributors are entitled to a complimentary copy. For contributors living outside the US, we will cover the cost of shipping up to what would otherwise be media rate (about $5-6 per copy).
