During the low-residency MA Ecopsychology program, students are required to come to Naropa's campus for:

  • A ten-day intensive to kick off the the program in the first year
  • A two-week summer intensive in the second year of the program, which includes a 10-day camping trip.
  • Two shorter on-campus intensives each January.

All other course work is done at a distance using the Internet.

First Ecopsychology Intensive

Students begin the MA Ecopsychology program with a 10-day residential Intensive at the beautiful Shambhala Mountain Center, around 2 hours from Boulder, CO.

Residential intensives

Summer 2020 intensive at Shambhala Mountain Center: August 17-26
Winter 2021 intensive: TBD

Summer Intensives

In the second year of the MA Ecopsychology program, students are required to complete two residential courses. Ecopsychology Training is held on-campus in Boulder, CO. Psychology of Wilderness Experience, which follows immediately, is a group base-camping trip with a 3–day solo experience at its heart.

Winter intensives

The program also includes two brief (5 day) winter intensives, one each January. These are held on-campus in Boulder.

Over 1/3 of the credits of this program are held in-person through the Intensive format. This helps create a strong learning community, which continues to deepen through the online classes.
