LS Summer, MA, taught Sanskrit at Naropa from 2000 to 2019, and 2024 to present. She also teaches at Ayurved Sadhana Vidalaya in Superior, CO. Additionally, she was a Visiting Instructor at Colorado College from 2005 to 2008 and taught at the World Center for Languages and Cultures at the University of Denver in the fall of 2015. Her Sanskrit training began at Naropa University, where she received the MA in Buddhist Studies with a concentration in Sanskrit in 1995. Additional study has been completed with Vyaas Houston, founder of the American Sanskrit Institute, and with the esteemed Dr. Ram Karan Sharma. Areas of focus include Buddhist texts, especially the prajñāpāramita; Upanishads, Yoga Sutras, and selections from the epic tradition. Other academic insterests include pre-buddhist India, Buddhism’s relationship to the Sanskrit language, textual analysis, and the process of translation.

Naropa Campuses Closed on Friday, March 15, 2024

Due to adverse weather conditions, all Naropa campuses will be closed Friday, March 15, 2024.  All classes that require a physical presence on campus will be canceled. All online and low-residency programs are to meet as scheduled.

Based on the current weather forecast, the Healing with the Ancestors Talk & Breeze of Simplicity program scheduled for Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday will be held as planned.

Staff that do not work remotely or are scheduled to work on campus, can work remotely. Staff that routinely work remotely are expected to continue to do so.

As a reminder, notifications will be sent by e-mail and the LiveSafe app.
