Naropa University and the Ri-mé Society are honored to host Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche’s historic return to Colorado.
Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche is the spiritual heir and grandson of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and a major holder of the Nyingma teachings of Tibetan Buddhism.
He is the supreme abbot of Shechen Monasteries and Nunneries, and the seventh in the succession of Rabjam Rinpoches. The second Rabjam Rinpoche founded Shechen Monastery in Kham, Eastern Tibet in 1695. When Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche rebuilt Shechen Monastery in Nepal, he appointed Rabjam Rinpoche as abbot.
Rabjam Rinpoche has worked diligently to ensure that the transmission of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche’s vision and teachings continue in an unbroken authentic lineage. Rinpoche first visited Colorado in 1976 as an 8-year old child with his grandfather, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and has returned a number of times.
This is an historic return of Rabjam Rinpoche to Colorado, and he will be continuing the vital connection between Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and Shechen, as well as with a host of other contemporary teachers who were raised and trained by his grandfather.
