EDUCATION:
Jo-Lynn provides vision and leadership for the Counseling & Wellness. She works with stakeholders to assess and develop teams, processes, and programs. She offers training and consultation on a variety of topics and leads the Trauma Informed University Initiative. She facilitates weekly Acudetox/ Acuwellness support and offers counseling to a small case load.
Jo-Lynn has served in several roles since joining Naropa in 2015. She was Assistant Director, then Associate Director of Counseling Services. She also was GSC Adjunct Faculty during this period. She helped launch Community Counseling, a Boulder center designed to serve the public (non-students) with low-cost and Medicaid counseling. In 2017 NSCC and NCC became separate entities, enabling greater refinement for each. Jo-Lynn became the Director of NSCC (now known as Counseling and Wellness), and developed a Masters Training Program to facilitate further growth of newer intern and extern level counselors. In 2021 she became the Senior Director of Counseling and Wellness and now works to promote a culture of well-being.
Jo-Lynn has a strong clinical foundation gleaned from previous work within wilderness therapy, treatment center, veterans’ expeditions and retreats, and college counseling programs. She has worked extensively in programs specific to young adult, female, veteran, indigenous, international, and GLBTQ populations and is passionate about resilience. She loves teaching and learning and has been an Instructor for Where There Be Dragons in Nepal and Brevard College Wilderness Leadership Immersion, a Trainer for Outward Bound, and a Teaching Assistant Hakomi Mindfulness Based Somatic Psychotherapy Comprehensive Trainings. She is currently engaged in Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher Training.
Jo-Lynn aspires to support students, faculty, and staff have more access to their own wisdom, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity.
In her free time she enjoys connecting with friends and family, cooking, reading, biking, paddling, skiing and hiking.
