Ashley Bentzel, a doctoral candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Shippensburg University, is a dedicated educator and practitioner passionate about the ethical integration of emerging therapeutic modalities and technologies. She holds a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), and an Approved Professional Counselor (APC).
Ashley’s passion lies in the ethical application of artificial intelligence and psychedelic-assisted therapy. Her work is deeply inspired by contemplative teaching and mindfulness, which she views as essential tools for fostering social justice and self-awareness. She specializes in her private practice in working with emerging adults.
Her clinical experience includes working as a Mental Health Therapist where she conducts screenings and assessments, and formulates therapeutic goals and treatment plans. She also has experience as a School Counselor, designing and educating students on emotional wellness and college and career readiness. Her research and presentations have explored topics such as counselor-in-training anxiety, supervision, and psychedelic-assisted therapy, demonstrating her commitment to advancing the field of counseling through both practice and scholarship.
In her teaching, Ashley is committed to creating a collaborative, student-centered learning environment. She encourages students to engage with their “growing edge” by expanding their knowledge and fostering their personal and professional growth. Her classroom frameworks are designed to be both supportive and challenging, preparing future counselors to navigate the complexities of their field with competence and compassion.
