Karla brings this same spirit of presence and care to both her clinical work and her role supporting students, focusing on First Generation Americans, BIPOC, queer, and neurodivergent folks, and all people, from an identity-affirming and culturally attuned lens.
In her clinical work, she supports clients who have experienced trauma — wounds of the past that live in the present — specializing in compulsive behavior, developmental trauma, emotional reactivity, dissociation, paranoia, and unstable relationships. Her approach fosters compassion and understanding for all the parts of a person that emerged in response to their environment.
Karla’s approach places the client at the center, identifying and addressing the obstacles getting in the way of their sense of fulfillment and sovereignty. She integrates transpersonal psychology, somatic therapy, mindfulness, and IFS-informed approaches to support clients in their healing process, and believes the therapist serves as a clear mirror to strengthen the client’s own inner healer. She brings this same relational, embodied lens to her work supporting students as a Clinical Support Person (CSP).
