My name is Elinah Russell, MSW, LCSW. I am a Zimbabwean-South African military spouse and therapist living in Colorado Springs. I identify as a feminine, cisgender female of Zimbabwean and South African descent. I moved to the United States in 2015.
My academic journey is a testament to my dedication and passion. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Women’s and Gender studies from the University of the Western Cape, a bachelor’s in Counseling Psychology from the same institution, and a Master’s in Social work degree from Boise State University. I am pursuing my Doctoral degree in social work at the University of Kentucky, focusing on neuroscience. These achievements underscore my expertise and commitment to the field.
I have been a public defender for the state of Colorado, Co Springs office, for a year. I also run a private practice and recently started a podcast called Ubuntu ngumuntu ngabantu, which is influenced by the Ubuntu African philosophy. I have over ten years of experience working as a mental health practitioner and am passionate about social justice issues. I look forward to working with everyone this semester.
