Steven M. Corey, PhD, is a mission-driven higher education leader whose career reflects a deep commitment to the transformative power of learning and community. Since 2010, he has served as the president of The University of Olivet, guiding the institution through a period of strategic renewal grounded in access, equity, and service. Under his leadership, Olivet has strengthened and expanded its academic and financial foundations while advancing a holistic vision of education that integrates purpose, personal responsibility, and the public good.
Dr. Corey’s earlier leadership at Prescott College, the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association, and Cumberland University shaped his reputation as a thoughtful steward of mission-centered institutions. His expertise in higher education finance and strategic planning has consistently supported innovation aligned with institutional values, whether through advancing affordability initiatives, curricular innovation, modernizing governance structures, or cultivating community partnerships that expand educational opportunity.
As a trustee of Naropa University, Dr. Corey brings a mission-centered approach to leadership, one that balances fiscal stewardship with vision, strategy with compassion, and innovation with integrity. His service reflects a belief that education, at its best, nurtures both the mind and spirit, empowering individuals to engage the world with wisdom, courage, and care for others.
He is married to Dr. Kelly Corey, a professor of business and leadership. Together, they have three adult children, Blake, Evan, and Karli, along with their chocolate lab Scout.
