Keynote Address by Joanna Macy:
“The Courage to See, The Power to Choose”
How do we relate to the immensities of suffering taking place across the world? How
do we see the pain when we don’t know how to stop it? Join celebrated author and activist
Joanna Macy for a transformative discussion on the clarity of choice we face when
confronted with environmental degradation, human suffering, and other challenges.
Saturday, October 18, 7:30 p.m. MST
Keynote Address by Dr. Dan Siegel:
“Mindsight and Neural Integration: How Kindness and Compassion Shape Our Relationships
and Our Brains”
At the neurological level, “mindsight,” or the ability to perceive our own minds and
those of others, has been shown to promote the growth of integrative fibers in the
brain, allowing for greater flexibility and adaptability. Dr. Dan Siegel will offer
insight from the field of interpersonal neurobiology and will discuss the power of
mindsight to promote compassion, kindness, and well-being in our personal lives, as
well as in our relationships and communities.
“The Radical Compassion Symposium is the capstone of Naropa’s 40th anniversary year,
celebrating the founding vision of our university and launching a future where contemplative
education prepares graduates to become the leaders and change agents we need,” said
Naropa University President Charles G. Lief. “We are delighted at our new collaboration
with Yoga Journal, our Boulder neighbor, since our missions and visions align so well.”
