#YOGAforNEPAL to Benefit Nepal Earthquake Victims

Boulder Companies and Yoga Studios Unite to Raise Funds for Earthquake Relief on May 12th

May 5, 2015 (Boulder, CO) – #YOGAforNEPAL, a new initiative spearheaded by the yoga community and wellness companies based in Boulder, will host a series of in-person and online fundraising events in Boulder and the Denver metropolitan area on May 12th to raise crucially-needed funds for earthquake victims in Nepal. An online effort is also being organized in order to link studios and yoga enthusiasts around the country.

#YOGAforNEPAL is a broad coalition of Boulder-based companies, studios, and individuals who have come together to mobilize relief efforts on behalf of the nearly one-half million Nepalese who were critically injured or displaced from their homes and livelihoods as a result of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Nepal. Lead community partners include Colorado School of Yoga, Elephant Journal, Gaiam, Gaiam TV, lululemon athletica Boulder, Naropa University, Yoga Journal, and Yoga Pod. Partners have generously donated their enthusiasm, space, expertise, technical skills, equipment, and advertising space.

Monies raised through the program will benefit Save the Children’s Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund. Funds can be donated online at www.crowdrise.com/YOGAforNEPAL.

The Schedule of Events is growing every day, and has expanded to include participation by local studios as well. The schedule so far includes the following:

Naropa University, Nalanda Campus (63rd and Arapahoe), 6-9pm

What: Yoga and guided meditation classes for all levels

Teachers: Growing list of confirmed teachers includes Gina Caputo, Satya Van Dyke, Lisa Fierer, Richard Freeman, Nataraja Kallio, Judy Lief, Jeanie Manchester, and more

Admission: Free and open to the general public. There is a suggested tax-deductible contribution of $20

Celebrity MC: Waylon Lewis, Elephant Journal

Yoga studios have also gotten involved in the #YOGAforNEPAL benefit. Colorado-based Yoga Pod will be hosting a special #YogaforNepal class open to everyone wanting to participate and dedicate their yoga practice and donate to this important cause. Yoga Pod Owners & Franchise Founders, Nicole & Gerry Wienholt, have challenged the yoga community and other studio owners to support this important initiative. Yoga Pod Inquiries should be made to Christine Duiven at chris@yogapodcommunity.com.
