From the heart

I love the strength and openness of the community. It is what makes working here so different than any other place I have ever been. I often take a moment to remember how grateful I am to be here with all these incredible people working towards the same underlying goals of transforming ourselves to transform the world. It's quite magical at times!

What book do you find yourself regularly pressing into the hands of students?

The PBS series ART21. We have the whole collection in the library. I love referring students to this collection of real artists speaking about their work, in their studios, addressing many of the same issues the students are experiencing in their work or life.

Have you ever helped a student reach an “ah ha” or transformational moment?

I had a student who was kind of judging herself for being perceived as "quirky." I told her most real artists are indeed really quirky. She had found her tribe! I watched her embrace this part of herself with a new confidence that really showed up in the work she did thereafter.

Coffee or tea?

PG Tips Tea with milk.....all day.

What does it mean to you when somebody says, “That’s so Naropa?”

It's a bit out of the box. Something unusual or a creative approach to an activity.
