Larry Welsh began his studies of the T'ai Chi Ch'uan solo form, listening hands, and sword form in 1977 with Bataan Faigao and Jane Faigao, founders of the Traditional Eastern Arts program at Naropa University. He studied T'ai Chi Ch'uan in the early years of Naropa University with Professor Cheng Man-ch'ing's senior students: Benjamin Lo, Ed Young, Tam Gibbs, Maggie Newman, and Wolfe Lowenthal. He worked for Maitri Psychological Services, founded by Edward Podvoll, MD from 1983 until 1996, as a psychotherapist and team leader. He worked as senior acupuncturist at Lutheran Medical Center from 1999 until 2012. He has been a student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and teacher of Buddhism and mindfulness meditation since 1977, leading retreats and workshops in T'ai Chi Ch'uan and the Four Foundations of Mindfulness bi-annually. He presently is senior adjunct professor at Naropa University and has a 20-year private practice in oriental medicine and nutrition.
