Barbara is a licensed clinical psychologist. She has worked extensively with individuals, couples and groups addressing a wide variety of psychological and medical issues since 1986. Among Barbara’s diverse experiences are working as a Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV) in Micronesia and then Peace Corps Cross-Cultural Trainer; developing biofeedback programs in Denver Hospitals to treat stress-related medical and psychiatric issues; training with Ron Kurtz in Hakomi, and Marsha Linehan in mindfulness. Her advanced training and doctoral studies with Stanislav Grof in Transpersonal Psychology lead to teaching in the Transpersonal Counseling Psychology Department of The Naropa University where she served as Chair and developed Naropa’s first online course in Transpersonal Psychology. Recently, Barbara became certified to teach mindfulness by the Engaged Mindfulness Institute and by Naropa’s Mindfulness Instructor Training Program. Her current focus is teaching and writing about the role of mindfulness and self-compassion in healing.
