Frequently Asked Questions

This information pertains to evening events, workshops, courses and limited series offered by Naropa Extended Campus. Please note that non-credit certificates and other applied-for-programs may have different parameters and policies as outlined for those respective programs.

Just click on the registration link for any Extended Campus program or event and you will be taken to the Extended Campus Gateway, our secure registration site. You will receive a confirmation email immediately after registration. We will then email you access instructions and streaming links for the live online event and other course content (when relevant) several times before the event starts.

For public talks and lectures: These events are generally presented via streaming video on Zoom or YouTube. You do not need anything other than basic Zoom or YouTube access in order to access the event. You will receive access instructions and streaming links for the live online event via email several times before the event starts. Recordings of public events are generally made available for later viewing if you are unable to watch the event when it streams.

For interactive events: You will need stable internet and a device with Zoom-compatible webcam, speaker and microphone. We recommend earbuds or other headphones with a built-in microphone. You will need a separate webcam if your device does not have a built-in camera. Instructions for how to operate and navigate Zoom can be found here.

With the consent of the instructors or presenters, we will generally record program sessions for later viewing or reference, as well as future archival, educational and related purposes. If you do not wish to be recorded, please make sure to keep your camera and/or microphone off for the duration of the event, and ensure your Zoom profile photo is something other than your likeness. Please note that by attending such events with your camera and/or microphone on, you are giving consent to be recorded in this way.

For free public events: recordings are usually publicly posted within 1-2 weeks after the live program has concluded. They may remain available indefinitely, or for a limited time period.

For paid events/programs: Recordings will generally be made available to program registrants for 90 days after the original program date. Accessing these recordings may require a password, private link or other restriction. In either case, we will generally provide access information to all registrants soon after the live program has concluded.

The Extended Campus Refund Policy is as follows. (Please note that Certificates and other applied-for programs have separate refund policies, which are clearly stated in the respective program materials.)

For evening events and talks: Registration fees and donations are nonrefundable. Recordings are generally made available for those who cannot attend in real-time (see above).

For workshops, series or other programs of length:

  • Participants who withdraw at least 7 days prior to the program start date (the first day of any multiple-day program) will receive a full refund issued to the credit card used when registering.
  •
  • Participants who withdraw less than 7 days before the program start date (the first day of any multiple-day program) will receive a 75% refund issued to the credit card used when registering.
  •
  • For participants who withdraw within 24 hours or less of the program start time (or the start time of any multiple-day program) there are no refunds or credits available.

Naropa University reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrollment or for any other reasons that it deems necessary. In the event that a course is cancelled, participants will be notified at least 48 hours in advance, and will received a full refund less any applicable processing fees.

To withdraw from a registered program, please email the Extended Campus office by replying to your registration confirmation or reminder email. Your email’s timestamp will be used as the date/time of your withdrawal request. You will receive confirmation of withdrawal along with confirmation of any eligible refund when applicable under the above-stated policy.

Depending on the nature of the program, discounts may be available for current Naropa University students, alumnx, staff and faculty, or other constituencies. These discounts are usually provided via discount codes that are included in relevant community program promotions. Those interested may contact Extended Campus to inquire about available discounts for a specific program.

Because Extended Campus programming is structured differently than the University’s regular academic offerings, Extended Campus programming is generally not eligible for employee tuition remission benefits; this includes continuing education courses and certificates. However, Naropa recognizes the importance of including its employees in its organizational mission and values, and therefore does provide standard staff and faculty discounts for most Extended Campus programming.

For some offerings, particularly application-based programs of length (such as certificates), Naropa employee discounts, if any, will be determined on a case-by-case and space-available basis. Employees are still required to complete the application process and meet all eligibility requirements for the desired program, and admission is not guaranteed. Supervisor approval may be required as well. Unlike tuition remission benefits, employee discounts for Extended Campus programming will generally apply to the employee only, and not their family members. Application fees may be waived for employees. If there are no application fees, interested employees are encouraged to first apply for the desired program and then contact Extended Campus regarding possible employee discounts.

Extended Campus offerings are primarily designed for adult learners, working professionals, and non-traditional students interested in contemplative education. Current degree-seeking students (including Naropa students) are welcome to take any Extended Campus programs for which they are eligible, but it is not possible to earn degree credit from programs that are only offered on a noncredit basis.

Extended Campus does not directly offer continuing education credits at this time, but we are more than happy to provide course completion documentation upon request.

Naropa Extended Campus will request your email address during program registration. We do not share your email address with anyone beyond Naropa University. You will be added to the Extended Campus mailing list for periodic program announcements, and you can subsequently change your preferences or unsubscribe at any time.
