A key component of Naropa's contemplative approach to education in the Religious Studies department is the monthlong meditation practice intensive called dathün. The dathün includes sitting and walking meditation, private interviews with qualified meditation instructors, periods of silence, and talks. During the practice, you'll sit with other students. The practice of group meditation offers powerful support for each individual's path. The collective energy facilitates inner cultivation and provides a rich training ground for the creation of compassionate society.
Through this experience, you'll gain practice in mindfulness meditation and the ability to access the qualities of clarity, gentleness, and compassion. Other practice intensives may be designed for you if you wish to deepen your practice in a specific spiritual tradition
