Mission

The Naropa Sustainability Council (NSC) is an open and inclusive gathering for all members of Naropa University. This is a space that gives life to ideas and initiatives toward sustainable and regenerative living. NSC is focused on increasing environmental awareness and eliminating our carbon footprint. Sustainability is a core value of Naropa's mission, and the NSC is a platform and vehicle to put this value into action. This involves proposing and implementing projects, programs, events and initiatives, as well as providing strategic input on sustainability goals and plannin. NSC acts as a liaison for the student body to make an impact on the university as a whole.

The Mission of the NSC is to support the university in its endeavors as stated in Naropa’s Sustainability Statement and outlined in Naropa’s Climate Action Plan (CAP). The NSC plans and hosts Earth Justice Day during Spring semester and Community Resilience Day in Fall. Through this work, the NSC activates and inspires students by providing opportunites for their leadership vision.

Join us. Activate. Inspire.

The NSC is involved in a number of sustainability issues on campus and is open to all students. In the past, the NSC has consisted of several subcommittees focused on such issues as:

  • Cafe and sustainable food sourcing at Naropa
  • Blog: Seeds of Compassion
  • The Naropa Bike Shack
  • Carbon Draw down
  • Earth Justice Day & Sustainability Events
