Types of Aid
Grants
Naropa offers substantial institutional grants as well as federal grants.
Scholarships
Naropa University offers more than twenty-five different types of scholarships to qualified students of merit. Except for the Frederick P. Lenz Foundation Merit Scholarship, all Naropa scholarships are need-based. Naropa University encourages students to apply for any and all scholarships for which they may be eligible.
Loans
Federal educational loans are available to U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens (e.g. permanent residents). While not as attractive as grants and scholarships, they, nevertheless, are an important form of financial aid and help students defray the cost of attendance.
Private loans may be available as a last resort. Students should consult with the financial aid office before exploring this option.
International Student Aid
With the exception of federal aid, international students are eligible for most of the other forms of aid (grants, scholarships, work-study) available at Naropa University. Descriptions under various scholarships will indicate whether they are restricted to U.S. citizens. We also list websites that provide information about private scholarships for international students.
Work Study
Full-time students with financial need may earn money at Naropa University through its work-study program. Naropa University takes pride in both the quality and quantity of work provided by our work-study students in every office on campus.
Outside Scholarships
Students are creative in finding ways to finance their education. Naropa University students have discovered scholarships offered by entities ranging from places of employment to benevolent associations to brand name companies to parents’ employers to name a few. We provide guidelines in conducting scholarships searches, links to search engines, and descriptions of various scholarships to aid in the pursuit of outside funding.
