Institute of American Indian Arts
Each year, the Summer Writing Program at Naropa works with the Institute for American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico to offer a summer scholarship to one BA student from IAIA. This student is chosen by IAIA faculty in conjunction with the Naropa Faculty. The award covers full tuition (excluding registration fees, if any) and housing (for out-of-state recipients) for all four weeks of the Summer Writing Program at Naropa.
Please use this form to apply. Be sure to answer all questions, follow instructions for submissions, and use the spaces provided to submit the required materials. Students should submit in the application a ten-page sample of poetry, a letter (one or two pages) discussing current projects and accomplishments as well as the importance of the scholarship to their artistic and academic goal.
Bruce Davis Memorial Scholarship
For qualifying employed teachers of pre-k through 12th grade. Scholarship funds will be applied to noncredit conference fees for the 1 credit Summer Education Conference of the MA Contemplative Education program to take place in June at Rocky Mountain Shambhala Center. The scholarship does not cover room and board, travel or any other conference-related costs. Applicants must complete the supplemental scholarship application and submit a one to two paragraph description of their interest in the area of contemplative or spiritual education. The supplemental scholarship application, which is available from the Financial Aid Office, and the statement of interest must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by May 1. Up to five scholarships may be awarded each year.
Zora Neale Hurston Award
Awarded to selected students who have experience working with people from diverse cultural and and ethnic backgrounds for one session of the Summer Writing Program. The award amount covers partial to full tuition (for all recipients) and housing costs (for out-of-state recipients) for one to four weeks of the Summer Writing Program (credit or noncredit). The award is based on exceptional literary merit and promise as well as financial need. To apply, please use this application.
