U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens complete an aid application at www.fafsa.gov by March 1st. List Naropa's School code (014652) on your application. If you are required to file a federal tax return, you should complete your taxes before completing the FAFSA. You are encouraged to retrieve and transfer your income tax return information using the IRS Data Retrieval Process when completing the FAFSA.
After filing the FAFSA, the Central Processor will mail you a paper Student Aid Report (SAR) or send you an e-mail notifying you that your SAR is available for your review on the FAFSA website.
Please review your SAR for accuracy, being careful to correct anything that may have been misreported. If corrections are necessary, you may make corrections to your FAFSA online. Please contact the US Department of Education at 1-800-433-3243 if you do not receive a SAR notification.
Verification for Federal Student Aid Programs
Your application may be selected by the U.S. Dept. of Education for review in a process called “verification.” In this process, we are required by federal law to compare the information from your FAFSA with the information provided on the Verification Worksheet and with your federal tax information. If you did not use the IRS Data Retrieval Process when completing the FAFSA, you will need to obtain your federal tax transcript. We will also need to verify your spouse’s information, if you are married, or your parents’ if you are considered dependent for federal aid purposes. If there are differences between your application and the documents you’ve submitted, we may need to make corrections. We cannot calculate your financial aid eligibility until verification has been completed, so please provide the required documents as soon as possible. If you were selected for Verification, please complete the following form, including all information required, as detailed by the instructions.
Please contact the Financial Aid office if you require a 2010-2011 Verification Form.
Step 3:
Receive your financial aid packet with award letter for 2012-2013.
Accept, reduce or decline your award online at https://my.naropa.edu (Contact the Financial Aid Office at finaid@naropa.edu if you want to reduce your award.)
If you are requesting Stafford Loans, you will need to do the following:
Please see the loan pages under Types of Aid for more information about the William D. Ford Federal Direct Student Loan Program.
Step 4: Disbursement of your financial aid.
Charges are assessed to your account after you register for classes. Once you have completed all financial aid requirements, your aid will be credited to your account. If there is more than enough financial aid to cover your costs you will receive a refund.
Refunds are available only after classes have started. For pre-registered students, refunds will be available as early as the first day of classes. For students who have not pre-registered, the earliest possible time is the Thursday of the second week of classes, after 4 p.m.
Direct Deposit: Students can elect to have their refunds direct deposited into a checking account. You can sign up for direct deposit by logging into your https://my.naropa.edu account and completing the direct deposit enrollment form.
