Bernadette Mayer is most often associated with the New York School. The former long-time director of The Poetry Project at St. Mark’s Church, she was a central figure in the community of artists and writers gathered at that time in New York City’s Lower East Side. New Directions published A Bernadette Mayer Reader, which includes excerpts from all of her books in addition to new material.
