Bill Berkson

Bill Berkson is a poet, critic, teacher and sometime curator. He attended Brown University, Columbia, the New School and NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts. He is the author of sixteen books and pamphlets of poetry, including Serenade, Fugue State, Gloria, a volume of his 1960s collaborations with Frank O’Hara, Hymns of St. Bridget & Other Writings and The Sweet Singer of Modernism & Other Writings 1985–2003. A collection of new poems, Our Friends Will Pass Among You Silently, is due out in spring 2007. A former contributor to Artnews, the Museum of Modern Art and Artforum, he teaches art history and literature at the San Francisco Art Institute.
