Noncredit Online Registration

Register & Apply

Writers can elect to take the Summer Writing Program (SWP) for noncredit, graduate or undergraduate credit. The application and registration procedures vary, so please consider whether or not you’ll be taking the SWP for academic credit and follow the instructions below. The SWP is open only to students eighteen years of age or older. All participants can elect to take any combination of the first, second, third, and/or fourth weeks.

Noncredit Students
Tuition: $450/week (4 weeks = $1700)

Complete the registration forms found in the catalog, online or available here for download and return to the registration manager with payment.

Please note: SWP weeks taken for noncredit cannot be converted to credit at a later date. Please consider carefully if you anticipate you may need credit in the future.

Non-Degree Seeking Credit Students
Tuition: $1071 undergraduate cost/week; $1452 graduate cost/week
Credits: 1.5 undergraduate credits/week; 2 graduate credits/week

Non-Naropa students may also take the SWP for academic credit. Naropa University is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Contact the SWP for more information on becoming a Non-degree seeking credit student, or download the Non-Degree Seeking Credit Student Application. Consider carefully whether you need undergraduate or graduate credit. Keep in mind that SWP weeks taken for undergraduate credit cannot be later coverted to graduate credit, and vice versa. Applicants for graduate credit must have a bachelor's degree.

Incoming Naropa Students
Tuition: $1071 undergraduate cost/week; $1452 graduate cost/week
Credits: 1.5 undergraduate credits/week; 2 graduate credits/week

Students interested in becoming full- or part-time Naropa students should contact the Admissions Office regarding deadlines and application procedures.

Register
Newly admitted, incoming full- or part-time Naropa MFA students in the Writing and Poetics and low-residency Creative Writing programs who are beginning their degree in summer 2008 will receive registration materials upon acceptance and should register by mail and email for weekly workshops as soon as possible after submitting a deposit for a degree program.

BA and transfer students may not begin their Naropa degree program in the summer, but may take the summer as noncredit or non-degree seeking students. Please call the registration manager at 303-245-4600 for more information.

Current Naropa Students
Writing Programs

There is no application procedure for Naropa writing students.

Register
Naropa MFA Writing and Poetics, MFA Creative Writing, and BA students who have already declared their major in Writing and Literature will register for workshops by doing the following:

  • Attending the SWP all-departmental meeting in the Spring.
  • Registering through the web registration system in April.

Low-residency MFA in Creative Writing students will receive information and registration forms via email and will be responsible for web registering in April as well.

Non-Writing Programs
Tuition: $1071 undergraduate cost/week; $1452 graduate cost/week
Credits: 1.5 undergraduate credits/week; 2 graduate credits/week

Apply
Naropa non-writing majors who would like to take the summer for academic credit must apply by doing the following:

  • Seeing their academic advisor to determine how the SWP will fit into their degree.
  • Contacting the SWP registration manager at 303-245-4600 to complete a short application process and obtain authorization to register for the SWP.

Register
Naropa non-writing majors who have completed the above application process, will register by doing the following:

  • Attending the SWP all-departmental meeting in the Spring.
  • Registering through the web registration system in April.

Obtaining Transcripts

Credit students with a web registration account can obtain an unofficial transcript through web registration. Naropa University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide transcript ordering via the internet. See here for more details.

Non-credit students are not able to acquire transcripts, but may request conformation that they attended the program from our office.

Drop and Refund Policy
All students have until 3:30 pm Monday each week of the Program to drop the week without incurring any financial and academic penalties.

Noncredit students should contact the registration manager in person or via email or phone by 3:30 pm to receive a full refund.

Credit students must complete a two-step process to fully drop the week. In addition to contacting the registration manager by 3:30 pm, students are responsible for dropping in the web registration system. Failure to complete both steps could result in financial and academic penalties.
