Room and Board

Program costs include room and board during your stay in Prague.

Housing
We know that your living situation will be a big part of making your stay in Prague comfortable and exciting. Student accommodation will be in the most central part of Prague – in easy walking distance to Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, and our class room. Naropa will rent a number of furnished apartments right downtown, typically with 3-4 students in each apartment. Apartments in Prague are about as far from typical dorm-style living as you can imagine! The rooms are spacious, and often in historical buildings, complete with chandeliers and other old-world fixtures!

All apartments have full kitchens and bathrooms, as well as a washing machine. Linens are also provided. Apartments will also have internet access (which means you can call home for free using VOIP).

Eating
We also want to make sure you’re eating well in Prague, which is why we give you a daily food stipend. The food stipend is 350CZK per day, which over the course of the semester comes out to 43,300CZK or approximately US$2,000. The stipend is distributed once per week, usually at our community meeting.

Other things included in program cost:

  • Students receive a travel stipend of US$150 for Spring Break.
  • We want you to be able to enjoy the wonderful cultural events available in Prague, so we provide tickets to various events and a “cultural stipend.” Students receive approximately 2,200CZK or US$100 towards cultural events.
  • Naropa also covers various costs for our class trips, including:
    • transportation and spa costs (a massage and one other treatment of your choice) (seriously!) for Karlovy Vary;
    • transportation and tour-guide for Kutna Hora, including a visit to the town’s silver mines and The Sedlec Ossuary (bone chapel);
    • transportation and tour-guide for Terezin Memorial, including entry to the Small Fortress and Museums;
    • transportation, accommodation, and tour-guide for Cesky Krumlov, including white water rafting and entry for the Baroque Theater tour;
    • transportation and tour-guide for Vienna;
    • Naropa will split the cost if students decide to take a group tour offered to Krakow. The price includes transportation, accommodation, and tour-guide in Krakow, Osvetim (Auschwitz), and Wieliczka Salt Mine.
