1. Application Form (.pdf format)

Deadlines:
Naropa University operates on a rolling admissions policy. This means that there is a recommended application deadline, but the program can fill before this date. Students are encouraged to apply early but not more than one year before the program start date.

July 1, 2008, was the application deadline for equal consideration for the Prague study abroad program. However, as of July 15, there is still space available.

Applications will be accepted until the program is full and considered on a rolling basis.

2. $45 nonrefundable application fee

A nonrefundable application fee of $45 payable to "Naropa University" must accompany this application.

3. Transcipt(s)

Request that official transcripts be sent to "Naropa University, Office of Academic Affairs" from the registrar of all colleges or universities that you have attended.

4. Recommendations

Request recommendations from two university professors or academic advisors who know you well. Personal references may be submitted only as additional support. You may use the recommendation forms in this brochure, or ask that the person completing your reference write a letter describing your motivation, suitability, and strengths and weaknesses for the program.

5. 350–500 Word Essay

Submit a statement of about 350–500 words, on a separate sheet of paper, in which you discuss:

  1. Your academic and personal reasons for selecting this particular program.
  2. A significant intercultural experience and how it impacted you.
  3. An experience where you dealt with stress and groundlessness and how you generally deal with unexpected challenges.
  4. Your interest and/or experience with meditation.
  5. Your health and lifestyle choices; your mind-body strengths and weaknesses.

6. Writing Sample

Please submit a recent research paper or composition. The paper should demonstrate your ability to clearly articulate a research topic with cited sources. If you are not a recent college student, please disregard this step.

In addition, please submit a 5–10 page sample of your recent creative work in any genre.

7. Interview

Upon receipt of your application and essay the Office of Academic Affairs will schedule an interview with you. This interview will be conducted either on the telephone or in person, depending upon the circumstance.

8. Admissions Notification

Naropa University considers applications on a rolling basis. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure the timely arrival of all application materials and that an application will not be considered until it is complete. You will be notified of your acceptance status approximately three weeks after receipt of all application materials. If an applicant is accepted, an official letter and financial policy will be mailed shortly there after. A $750 deposit is required of all accepted students to hold their place in the program.
