Exceptions

Building use outside of the hours posted here must be supervised by staff or core faculty. If you have questions about exceptions to building hours, please contact your academic department’s administrator.

Academic classes and any special events, conferences, etc., falling outside these hours need to be approved BEFORE the events are publicized. Otherwise, the request may be denied and buildings may not be accessible.

General notes:
  • Facilities are closed during holidays and winter break.
  • Facilities hours during spring break are the same as "Intersession" hours above.
  • Facilities are opened for limited use on Practice Days.

Fall Semester 2012 Last day of classes Friday, December 9, 2011

 

NOTE: Saturday, Dec 10 is the first day of Intersession, buildings CLOSED.

Winter Intersession: Saturday December 10, 2011–Sunday January 15, 2012 (between semesters hours apply)

Holidays (Campuses CLOSED):

  • Winter Holiday Break:
    CAMPUSES CLOSED Saturday, Dec 17, 2011–Monday Jan 2, 2012
  • New Student Orientation & Registration:
    Thursday, Jan 12 – Friday, Jan 13

    Intersession hours apply, exceptions only for Orientation events, by arrangement with Safety & Security.

Spring Semester: Tuesday, January 17–Friday, May 11, 2012
Regular semester hours apply
First day of classes Tuesday, January 17
Last day of classes Wednesday, May 9
Thurs May 10 & Fri May 11: buildings not needed for makeup days may be closed early

Holidays (Campuses CLOSED) and Practice Days (Limited Hours):

  • Martin Luther King Day Monday January 16 (no classes, campuses closed)
  • Shambhala Day Wednesday February 22 (Campuses CLOSED, except for celebration activities scheduled with Safety and Security)
  • Community Practice Day Tuesday March 6 (no classes, offices closed)
  • Spring Break Saturday March 24–Sunday April 1 Intersession hours apply

End of semester note: Thurs May 10 & Fri May 11: buildings not needed for makeup days may be closed early.

NOTE: Saturday, May 12 is Commencement and first day of Intersession.
Buildings will be closed except for those in use for any commencement related events, scheduled in advance with Safety and Security.

Spring Intersession: Saturday May 12–Sunday May 20, 2012

Summer Semester (Academic summer session) Monday May 21–Tuesday July 17, 2012:
Note: Buildings may close early if no events are scheduled.

Holidays (Campuses CLOSED):

  • Memorial Day weekend Saturday, May 26–Monday, May 28 (No classes, campuses closed)
    Note: This is the first weekend of the of Summer Semester
  • Independence Day Wednesday, July 4 (No classes, campuses closed except for Summer Writing Program and/or MA Ed, as applicable)
