Student Leadership

Student. Leader. Activist. Change Agent.

Studying at Naropa University is not just about being in the classroom. It's about making the most of your studies by applying what you learn in the classroom outside in the real world. Developing and applying your unique talents is a perfect way to bridge formal classroom learning and life beyond Naropa.

Naropa's student leadership opportunities provide you avenues to manifest your passions, explore new ideas you're curious about, and make your learning experience a full and satisfying one.  If governance and making change at Naropa is your passion, consider joining student government. If you are passionate about the environment, social issues, contemplative practice, or peace, consider joining or starting a student group.

Co-Curricular Leadership Certificate Program

Over the course of the academic year, we provide multiple workshops and events to help you develop your leadership skills. You can earn a Co-Curricular Leadership Certificate by participating in the workshop series and completing a community service project. Some workshops include: budget management, group dynamics, StrengthsQuest, leadership styles, social justice ally training, social media, and much, much more!

Emerging Leaders Retreat

During fall semester, join other Naropa students who are new to leadership roles or looking to build skills. The Emerging Leaders Retreat takes a small cohort of students off-campus to spend an entire weekend honing skills around the Five Practices of Exemplary Leaders from "The Leadership Challenges" by Kouzes and Posner. By the end of the retreat, participants will understand how to:

  • Model the Way,
  • Inspire a Shared Vision,
  • Challenge the Process,
  • Enable Others to Act, and
  • Encourage the Heart!
