Exceptions

Building use outside of the hours posted here must be supervised by staff or core faculty. Academic classes and any special events, conferences, etc., falling outside these hours need to be approved before the events are publicized. Otherwise, the request may be denied and buildings may not be accessible.

Specific Dates: Semesters, Holidays, Breaks and Practice Days

General notes:

  • Facilities are closed during holidays and winter break.
  • Facilities are opened for limited use on Practice Days.
  • Exceptions to intercessions hours, etc., may be made for orientation events. Arrangement must still be made with Safety and Security, well in advance.

 

Winter Intersession (Saturday, December 15, 2012–Sunday, January 13, 2013) - Intersession hours apply.

Events
  • Holiday: Winter Break (Thu. Dec. 20, 2012–Wed. Jan. 2, 2013)
    No classes, campuses closed.
  • New Student Orientation & Registration (Thu. Jan 10–Fri. Jan. 11, 2013)
    Exceptions to intersession hours will be made only for Orientation events, by arrangement with Safety and Security.

Spring Semester (Monday, January 14–Thursday, May 9, 2013) - Regular semester hours apply.

  • First day of classes: Mon. Jan. 14
  • Last day of classes: Wed. May 8, make-up day Thu. May 9
    Note: Buildings not in use may close early on the make-up day, May 9.
Events
  • Holiday: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Mon. Jan 21)
    No classes, campuses closed
  • Holiday: Shambhala Day Celebration (Mon. Feb. 11)
    No classes, campuses closed, except for spaces in use for the celebration.
  • Community Practice Day (Tue. Mar. 5)
    No classes, offices closed.
  • Spring Break (Sat. Mar. 23–Sun. Mar. 31)
    Intersession hours apply: Buildings officially open only Mon.–Fri., 9 a.m.–6 p.m.

Note: Commencement, Saturday, May 11, is during the first weekend of Spring Intersession. Buildings will be officially closed unless otherwise announced.

Spring Intersession (Friday, May 10–Sunday, June 2, 2013) - Intersession hours apply.

  • Holiday: Memorial Day weekend (Sat. May 25–Mon. May 27)
    No classes, campuses closed.

Academic Summer Sessions (Monday, June 3–Friday, July 26, 2013)

If no events are scheduled, buildings may close early.

    No classes, campuses closed.
