NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING
NAROPA UNIVERSITY

Naropa University, a unique liberal arts university founded in 1974 and located in Boulder, Colorado, has initiated a search for a new president. Naropa is North America’s leading institution of contemplative education, based in the world’s diverse wisdom traditions. This approach to learning combines the best of Eastern and Western educational traditions, complementing disciplined attention to academic excellence with helping students to know themselves more deeply and to engage constructively with others. The university comprises a four-year undergraduate college and graduate programs,  both residential and low-residency, in the arts, education, environmental leadership, psychology and religious studies. It offers BA, BFA, MA, MFA and MDiv degrees, as well as professional development training and classes for the community, and has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1986. Currently enrolling 1,100 undergraduate and graduate students, Naropa will conclude a visionary strategic planning process in the fall of 2008.

This is a pre-announcement of the position opening and an invitation for letters of interest and nomination.  Individuals whose names are received as a result of this pre-announcement will receive final search materials in late September.
