Bringing Renewed Life to Trungpa's Works
First annual Ocean of Dharma conference explores widespread influence of Naropa’s founder

BOULDER , Colo. (September 18, 2006)—Leading scholars of Buddhism in the West and students of Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, will convene at Naropa University’s Nalanda Campus (6287 Arapahoe Ave.) for Ocean of Dharma: Chögyam Trungpa: Written Words, Spoken Words, Beyond Words October 20-22, 2006.

Attendees will gain insight into the origins of contemplative education, Shambhala teachings past and present, interfaith dialogue, and the convergence of Eastern and Western thought. They’ll learn from the life and teachings of one of Buddhism’s most influential proponents in the West.

Speakers at the history-rich event include Judith Simmer-Brown, Carolyn Gimian, Anne Waldman, Lady Diana Mukpo, Fabrice Midal and many more. This inaugural weekend conference—the first in a series of annual gatherings at Naropa University—will explore the seminal work of Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, and his far-reaching scholarly and creative influence on the arts, humanities, social sciences and dharma practice in the West.

Those interested in attending can register by calling Naropa University Extended Studies at (303) 245-4800.

Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Naropa University is a private, nonprofit, nonsectarian liberal arts institution dedicated to advancing contemplative education. This approach to learning integrates the best of Eastern and Western educational traditions, helping students know themselves more deeply and engage constructively with others.
