Peter Goldmark Kicks Off Naropa Leadership Conference
Naropa’s Marpa Center to Host Management Series at Nalanda Campus 

BOULDER, Colo. (May 24, 2007)— Join in a four-day conference devoted to authentic leadership through practices that foster self-awareness, presence, compassionate communication and effective action with Peter Goldmark, Susan Skjei and Mark Wilding beginning on Thursday,
June 14, 2007.

This weekend workshop provides an introduction to the principles and practices of Authentic Leadership that will delve deeply into the questions that matter to nonprofit leaders. The workshop will introduce important issues of succession planning, changes in management, life and work balance, skillful communication and emotional intelligence.

Goldmark is Director of the Climate and Air Program at Environmental Defense and directs programs concerned with scientific policy as well as international dimensions of the challenge of global warming. He was the eleventh President of The Rockefeller Foundation based in New York City. Prior to this appointment, he was Senior Vice President for Eastern Newspapers for the Los Angeles-based Times Mirror Company. Goldmark served for eight years as Executive Director of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and was Director of the Budget for the State of New York. In addition to being Secretary of Human Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, he was also Executive Assistant to the Mayor in 1970. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Lend Lease Corporation and the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. For the Spring 2007 semester, he returned to Princeton University as a Visiting Professor of Public and International Affairs, Woodrow Wilson School.
