Naropa University Welcomes New Chief Administrative Officer and Member of Leadership Team

BOULDER, Colo. (February 12, 2010)—Naropa University announces the hiring of Todd J. Kilburn to serve as chief administrative officer, a new position in the President's Office. Kilburn will be responsible for organizing, coordinating and reporting on activities established to support the university's mission, as well as providing oversight of management and implementation of the strategic plan. As a member of the President’s leadership team, he will work collaboratively with other university administrators, students, faculty and staff in facilitating the president’s agenda. His first day was Wednesday, January 20.

Kilburn received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983 from Faith Baptist Bible College, Ankeny, Iowa. Afterwards, he became senior pastor at the Grace Baptist Church of Springfield, Massachusetts, a position he held until 1997. During this time, he retained various positions such as academic dean and professor and vice-chairman of the board of Heritage Baptist Institute where he also both taught and developed the curriculum. In 1997, he joined Boehm Enterprises in New York, New York, where he served as the executive assistant to the president and founder, Robert Boehm. Kilburn managed various aspects of the office’s administration and provided support to the Board of Directors of the Boehm Foundation, a nonprofit family foundation. In 2004, he accepted the position of assistant to the dean of the William Jewett Tucker Foundation, where he managed the dean’s financial accounts, engaged students through training in areas of ethical leadership and developed opportunities to enhance community service, character development and spiritual exploration within students. Prior to accepting the position at Naropa, Kilburn was the manager of the Student Employment Office at Dartmouth where he created new student programming and developed cross-campus relationships in order to enhance institutional efficacy.

Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association, Naropa University is a private, nonprofit, nonsectarian liberal arts institution dedicated to advancing contemplative education. This approach to learning integrates the best of Eastern and Western educational traditions, helping students know themselves more deeply and engage constructively with others. The university comprises a four-year undergraduate college and graduate programs in the arts, education, environmental leadership, psychology and religious studies.
