Naropa University Ceremony to Honor Fall Graduates Hosts Guest Speaker, Dan Montgomery Management Consultant, Sustainable Business Practice Advocate

BOULDER, Colo. (Dec. 3, 2009)—Naropa University will congratulate the Fall 2009 graduating class with a Ceremony to Honor Fall Graduates on Saturday, December 12, at 1 p.m., at the Nalanda Campus, 6287 Arapahoe Avenue.

This ceremony is an intimate gathering for students who have completed their degree programs in mid-year. The official commencement ceremony is held in spring. A total of 60 students, 46 undergraduates and 14 graduates, will graduate from 13-degree programs including writing and literature, psychology, and environmental studies. Writing and Poetics Professor Andrew Schelling and Tiffani Parrish are the faculty and student speakers, respectively.

Dan Montgomery, a 1978 graduate of Naropa, will deliver the fall ceremony’s address on Sustainable Leadership.“I'm convinced that creating a sustainable world requires a deep personal and cultural shift in the way we see, think, act, and do business in the world. Without embarking on this shift, no amount of technology will allow us to address the challenges we face. Naropa's approach to education is unique in equipping its students for the road ahead, for leading the kinds of collaborative efforts that are required.”

Montgomery received his master’s degree in psychology from Naropa University in 1978. Since then, Dan Montgomery has gone on to lead a very successful career as a management consultant and corporate executive coach. He worked for the reputable consulting firm Ernst & Young as a senior manager, and later went on to establish his own consulting firm, Halifax Global Management Consultants. Montgomery has established himself as a leader in helping institutions and corporations re-energize their organizations and reach new levels of excellence. He has assisted both Fortune 100 companies and universities to facilitate the implementation of major new action plans.

Montgomery is also the host of BlogTalkRadio’s “Sustainable Leadership”; a program that addresses the role business plays in creating a sustainable world. You can visit his website at http://www.resilient-strategies.com/.
