Interlibrary Loan
If we don't have a book or journal article you need, the Allen Ginsberg Library can borrow the book or have a copy of the article sent from another library. This service is called Interlibrary Loan (ILL), and is available to Naropa University students, faculty and staff.
Receipt of your requested materials can take up to two weeks or more, depending on availability at lending libraries and the promptness with which these libraries respond to the request.

Policies
- Interlibrary Loan is available to all current students, faculty and staff. Alumni and other borrowers can make requests through your local public library.
- You may request a maximum of 7 books or articles at a time.
- Books that we own that are checked out can not be requested through ILL.
- Audio visual materials can not be requested through ILL. Libraries rarely loan audio visual materials (VHS cassettes, DVDs etc.). Because of the amount of research required of us to find a library that will loan these materials, and the high fees often associated with these loans, we are unable to process requests for these items.
- The loan period for books is set by the lending library, and is normally 3-5 weeks with no renewals. We can attempt to renew an ILL item for you if you contact us directly, before the item is due.
- In most cases, Naropa will absorb the cost of loans. In rare cases, a library will charge a high fee for a loan, which Naropa is unfortunately unable to pay. In such cases, you will be contacted and asked if you are willing to pay the fee. When filling out a request form, please indicate how much you are willing to pay in fees for your request. Note that we make every effort to borrow from libraries that do not charge.
- You will be charged a replacement fee for lost books, amount stipulated by the lending library. Note: Replacement fees can be as high as $200.00!
