Boulder, Colo. (June 27, 2013) -- Naropa University will host a memorial reading during their 2013 Summer Writing Program for poet and longtime Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics faculty member, Anselm Hollo. The event will take place on Sunday, July 7, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Naropa's Performing Arts Center, 2130 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder. Participants will include Maureen Owen, Jack Collom, Eleni Sikelianos, Bill Berkson, Anne Waldman, Anselm Berrigan, Bobbie Louise Hawkins and Reed Bye, along with some members of Mr. Hollo's immediate family. Preceding the memorial reading, a reception will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to mark the opening of an exhibit curated by Jane Dalrymple-Hollo entitled "Anselm Hollo: in the Company of Poets." The exhibit will be on view throughout the four-week course of the Naropa Summer Writing Program.
An prolific poet, translator, and a beloved mentor to hundreds of students, Anselm Hollo died peacefully in his home on January 29, 2013 after a valiant battle with a recurrent meningioma. His wife, Jane, and daughters Kaarina and Tamsin were with him at the time of his death.
