Naropa Wireless Access

I have a wireless capable device. Now what do I do?

For PCs and Macs

If your wireless card is functioning properly, able to see the NARac-Students wireless network, and has been connected to that network, open a Web browser to any URL.  You will be redirected to a login page.

For Students:

  • Enter your Web Registration (WebReg) ID / Student Number in the user name field.
  • Enter your WebReg password in the password field.* †
  • Select 'Student' from the "authentication provider" pull-down menu.
  • Accept all certificates following your login if prompted.
  • Once logged in, you will be automatically directed to download a program called Clean Access Agent. The entire process should only take a minute or two.  (This software will verify that you have current Windows updates and an active anti-virus program with the latest anti-virus definitions applied).

For Faculty:

Please note - Faculty may login one of two ways. Either is fine, but please read both sections below:

  • Enter your Naropa Domain Login in the user name field.
  • Enter your Domain password in the password field.
  • Select 'Naropa' from the "authentication provider" pull-down menu.

     -OR-

  • Enter your Web Registration (WebReg) ID in the user name field.
  • Enter your WebReg password in the password field.*
  • Select 'Student' from the "authentication provider" pull-down menu

     -Then-

  • Accept all certificates following your login if prompted.
  • Once logged in, you will be automatically directed to download a program called Clean Access Agent. The entire process should only take a minute or two.  (This software will verify that you have current Windows updates and an active anti-virus program with the latest anti-virus definitions applied).

For Staff:

  • Enter your Naropa Domain Login in the user name field.
  • Enter Domain password in the password field.
  • Select 'Naropa' from the "authentication provider" pull-down menu.
  • Accept all certificates following your login if prompted.
  • Once logged in, you will be automatically directed to download a program called Cisco NAC Agent. The entire process should only take a minute or two.  (This software will verify that you have current Windows updates and an active anti-virus program with the latest anti-virus definitions applied).

When Cisco NAC Agent is installed, the login window will appear automatically whenever your computer attempts to access the Naropa Student Wireless network.  You do not need to login via the web interface again on any system with the NAC Agent installed.  Agent will detect the network automatically so long as it is installed and running.

If no vulnerabilities are found, your computer is considered compliant and is granted full network access. If you do not meet these security requirements (current OS and AV updates), your system will be placed in quarantine and you will be denied access to our network.

Please see the Clean Access FAQ for more information and troubleshooting assistance.

Can I get a more visual set of instructions?
Instruction videos are also available for Macs, PCs and
Ubuntu computers

It says I can't access the network because of Windows updates or because I don't have an antivirus program.

PC users will need to have current Windows updates installed. You will need a current anti-virus software program/virus definitions (most antivirus programs – Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, etc. -  are supported in Clean Access, as are free programs such as AVG, Avast!, etc.).

Some versions of Norton/Symantec have a "Worm Blocker."  This may need to be disabled until you are successfully on the Internet. Security programs such as McAfee (esp. firewall settings) can also interfere with connecting to the Naropa wireless.

For iPhones, iPads, Android phones and Linux

Naropa's wireless network may be accessed by iPhones, iPads, most Android smartphones, and a number of other wireless devices.  Lab staff cannot support these devices; we only support laptops.  It will be your responsibility to administer non-computer wireless devices.

If your wireless device is functioning properly, able to “see” the NARac-Students wireless network, and has been connected to that network, open a Web browser.

For Faculty:

  • Enter your Naropa Domain Login in the user name field.
  • Enter your Domain password in the password field.
  • Select 'Naropa' from the "authentication provider" pull-down menu.

  • Select 'Naropa' from the "authentication provider" pull-down menu.
  • Accept all certificates following your login if prompted.

Can I print wirelessly?

The university does not offer wireless printing at this time.

Who do I contact if I can't get it to work?

If you have any problems, please call the lab supervisor 303-546 -3587 or email lab@naropa.edu.

* Please note: the WebReg database only stores the first 8 characters of your password.  Passwords longer than 8 characters are actually truncated when saved to the database.  So even though you may have a 10 character password that works when you login to WebReg, the system is only checking against the first 8 characters entered.

This is important as that 8 character maximum is all that is passed to the Student Wireless authentication side.  Meaning that when logging into the Wireless network, only enter the first 8 characters of your password.  If you ignore this point, you will not be able to log in to the wireless network.

- Please allow a day or two from the time you receive or change your web registration password before you attempt to log onto the wireless network with that password.

† If you do not know your WebReg password, please visit the WebReg page and click on the appropriate "Lost Password?" link (please note that there is one for Students and one for Faculty/Advisors.  They are not the same).
