Non-U.S. Educational Records
Applicants (including U.S. citizens and permanent residents educated outside the U.S.) must have all non-U.S. records of secondary and post-secondary education – including grades earned for individual subjects – evaluated by a professional evaluation service (see complete listing here) and forwarded to the Naropa Admissions Office for evaluation with other application materials. In these cases, transcripts are not required to be sent directly to Naropa from the non-USA school or college.
Financial Aid Application for International Students
To be considered for financial aid, international applicants must complete the Financial Aid Application for International Students. For more information, please visit the Tuition and Financial Aid: International Students page.
Accepted International Student Requirements
Once an international student is accepted to Naropa University, they will be required to provide the following documents. Our International Student Advising staff will assist students with these procedures.
Financial Documentation
International students who are accepted academically to Naropa and need a Form I-20 to apply for an F-1 student visa must submit documentation in English of financial resources for the first academic year (nine months) to the Admissions Office. Documentation must show the ability to pay both tuition and living expenses as estimated by Naropa University. This can be in the form of:
- a personal bank statement in the student's name,
- personal sponsorship documentation including a letter of support accompanied by the sponsor's bank statement
- an I-134 Federal Affidavit of Support Form with accompanying letter from individual supporting
- government or private foundation sponsorship documentation including a letter from the sponsor confirming support and stating the amount of aid.
For all international students the required amount of documented support for the 2012-13 school year is $39,000. Please complete the Source of Funds Statement for International Students. For low-residency program students who plan to apply for student visas, documentation is required.
Immigration Information
To study at Naropa, international students will need to complete several immigration documents after they are accepted. For more information, please visit our International Students: Immigration Information page.
Dependents
Students planning to bring dependents must document an additional amount of funding: $7,000 for a spouse and $4,000 for each child. In addition, the Admissions Office will need the following information on each dependent:
First and last name, birth date, country of birth and country of citizenship.
Deadlines
Because of the time required processing international student applications and visa paperwork, we strongly recommend that the above documents are completed and submitted three months prior to the preferred session start date.
