In Memory of Bataan Faigao

Bataan FaigaoNaropa is sad to announce that our dear friend and exceptional faculty member, Bataan Faigao, has died while on a pilgrimage to sacred places in China.

Bataan and his wife Jane were instrumental in founding Naropa's Traditional Eastern Arts program, and their extraordinary gifts as instructors of T'ai Chi Ch'uan benefited countless students over the past 30 plus years. Bataan and Jane also served the wider Colorado community as the co-founders of Rocky Mountain T'ai Chi Ch'uan. Naropa is very fortunate that Bataan understood the teachings he experienced from his own heart teacher, Master Cheng Man-Ch'ing, and generously and effectively transmitted those teachings to a new generation of teachers who are keeping the lineage alive.

Naropa is working with Bataan's family to plan a memorial and celebration of the remarkable life of this genuine scholar and practitioner.
