Making Sense of Money:
Aligning Money and Values

Robert Kenny

Money has been referred to as "the last taboo"—a topic not generally broached in polite company, often considered more uncomfortable to talk about than sex. Yet our relationship to money affects nearly every aspect of our lives. This workshop is for parents, grandparents, professionals and advisors. It is for people who are wondering about their life choices, who are worried about out-of-control spending or who find that work consumes them, or perhaps know that guilt drives them to give too much to their children. In short, this program is for those who understand that money is having a big impact in their lives. We will re-evaluate personal myths and attitudes about money and the fundamental relationship between values and money. Through in-depth conversation, personal reflection and exercises, we will examine the money dilemmas we face in relationships at home and at work. We will share our experiences and solutions and address ethical questions fundamental to an increasingly affluent society, such as: "What is money for?" "Can we transform our relationship to money into a creative force?” “How can we better align our money with our values and our goals?” You will leave with new insights and tools, resources, and inspiration for continued change in your relationship to money.

Gearing Up for Business Sustainability:
Leadership and the Challenge of Change

Susan Skjei, Dan Montgomery, Mark Wilding
and Guest Faculty

Creating a Culture of Commitment

Companies are in constant processes of change and adaptation, and leading successful initiatives requires more than following the steps of the latest change theory. Authentic leaders create a culture of commitment that inspires full engagement and unconditional responsibility in individuals and teams. Out of this complete engagement comes actions that are intelligent (or strategic) and compassionate (or empathetic). Organizations that learn how to approach change in this way are more resilient and capable of adapting to new conditions with enthusiasm and commitment.

Leading through Conflict: How Successful Leaders Transform Differences into Opportunities

Every one of us leads a life with conflict. It is everywhere: from organizations that are divided about strategy and roles to local communities divided by race, economics, religion or politics; from homes torn apart by chronic feuds to countries torn apart by civil strife. New leadership skills are required to face the many complex conflicts we face today. Based on Mark Gerzon's new book, Leading Through Conflict, this evening talk will explore specific tools that leaders can use for strengthening their organizations. Leading through conflict involves facing differences honestly and creatively; and enabling those involved to move toward opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
