Leading Across Borders: Becoming a Global Citizen
Tuesday, April 13, 2010, 7-9 p.m.
Nalanda Events Center, 6287 Arapahoe Ave
Mark Gerzon
BA, Harvard
“If we are to overcome the challenges we face today, from terrorism to climate change and financial meltdown, we need to free ourselves from our narrow identities and start thinking like global citizens” --Mark Gerzon, Global Citizens
In his highly interactive presentation, Mark will share case studies drawn from his own experiences across the globe that bring to life the concept of being a 'citizen of the world'. In this engaging session, we will get a preview of the 'global citizens journey,' which Mark and his colleagues are designing as a transformative rite of passage into a greater awareness of human beings' true place in the world.
Author and mediator Mark Gerzon, one of the world’s leading global educators, is deployed by the United Nations to countries in conflict, he has been heralded by the New York Times as an ‘expert in civil discourse’. He has worked with a wide range of corporate and civic organisations, including the United States Congress, the United Nations, as well as political leaders in Africa and Asia. His previous book, Leading Through Conflict, has been translated into six languages. Global Citizens, published in London in February, is his ground-breaking vision for a new way of thinking about ourselves and our world.
