Program Fees & Logistics

Tuition:

The total cost for the Contemplative End of Life Care Certificate is $4750 for noncredit participants. This program is pending approval for academic credit.

All tuition payments including deposit paid to Naropa University School of Extended Studies, 909 14th Street, Boulder, CO 80302. To pay by credit card, call 303-245-4800 or 800-603-3117.
Tuition does not include travel, housing, or food for the two residential components of the program. Travel, housing, and food costs are the participants' responsibility.

Payment:

  • $500 deposit due upon acceptance in program to hold place in program.
  • Prior to November 15, 2006, $400 of deposit is refundable.
  • After November 15, 2006 the deposit is nonrefundable.
  • Full tuition payment required prior to participation in program

HHP500D- End of Life Care Certificate- (Price if deposit is already paid) $4250

Housing & Meals:

Once accepted to the program, participants will make their own housing arrangements

Single, double, and dormitory housing is available on a first come first serve basis at Red Feather Conference Center. Deluxe housing is available at the Shambhala lodge (fills up quickly with other programs at SMC).

Rates for 8 nights including meals beginning with dinner on will vary according to choice of accommodations. Housing reservations and payments will be coordinated directly with Shambhala Mountain Center Office: (970) 881-2184.

The rates in 2005 were as follows:

  • Dorm - $505
  • Red Feather double - $620
  • Red Feather single - $793
  • Shambhala Lodge double - $763
  • Shambhala Lodge single - $1081

Shambhala Mountain Center has not yet established its housing rates for 2007.

Travel:

Participants make their own travel arrangements and pay their own travel costs, including air and ground transportation.

Certification: Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from Naropa University, a fully accredited university, upon successful completion of the program. No academic credit is awarded for this noncredit certificate program.

Continuing Education Units (CEU's): Continuing Education Credit for Nurses and other professions is provided by Naropa University. Ask for details.

Support for people with physical limitations: Red Feather Lakes Conference Center at Shambhala Mountain Center (www.shambhalamountain.org) is in a rustic, high altitude (approx. 8000 ft.) setting. Wheelchair access is possible, but certainly not ideal (please check with Shambhala Mountain Center (970-881-2184) directly regarding wheelchair access or other issues involving physical limitations).

Scholarships: Currently there are no scholarships available for this program through Naropa University or the Rigpa Spiritual Care Program. Employers and/or state hospice, nursing, social work, and medical associations may possibly be sources for tuition support. Participants are responsible for seeking such support and for paying all tuition costs.
