Administrative Assistant - Faculty Senate
Position Title: Administrative Assistant
Department: Academic Affairs

Hours/Week: variable up to average of 8 hours/week

Job Summary:
Assist the Chair of Cauldron, Naropa University’s faculty senate, with administrative and logistical work necessary to support this faculty governance body. This temporary position lasts through the end of the academic year, starting as early as the last week of January,and running as late as the week after spring semester ends.
Job Duties:
- Type notes during faculty meetings each Wednesday morning;
- Work with supervisor to revise notes into formal meeting minutes;
- Write draft summaries of discussion topics;
- Maintain strict confidentiality of information;
- Communicate efficiently via email, phone and in person;
- Make photocopies as needed;
- Plan logistics for spring faculty retreat.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned Bachelors Degree or four years full-time professional experience;
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word;
- Proficient use of PC computer;
- Types 50 words per minute;
- Due to requisite relationship with the entire Naropa faculty, not attending any Naropa class during the spring semester 2012 ensures the avoidance of dual relationship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Types 60 words per minute;
- Expert use of Microsoft Word;
- One year of professional experience maintaining strict confidentiality of information;

Dean of Admissions
Job Title: Dean of Admissions
Reports To: Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management

Job Summary:
Naropa University is seeking a dynamic, innovative, results oriented Dean of Admissions. The Dean is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the admission office as well as providing leadership and management to the admission staff and developing and implementing a strategic, data driven enrollment plan. The enrollment plan includes marketing and advertising plans which encompass traditional and electronic media. The Dean coordinates with the Vice President to establish aggressive student enrollment targets each year and is responsible for meeting or exceeding those targets on an annual basis. The Office of Admissions is centralized and manages the admissions process for 15 graduate programs as well as 11 undergraduate majors.
Job Duties:
- Meet aggressive yearly new student enrollment targets including those needed for all phases of the enrollment funnel both comprehensive and by program
- Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment plan including marketing, advertising, lead generation, conversion and yield
- Collaborate closely with on campus constituencies including marketing and communication, faculty, financial aid, registration and other offices to ensure attainment of recruitment goals
- Participate directly in recruitment activities, including travel, public presentations, reviewing applications, responding to correspondence, etc.
- Manage all published information regarding admissions requirements and policies
- Collaborate with faculty to develop and monitor compliance to departmental admission criteria
- Hire, supervise, create performance metrics for and mentor admissions staff
- Cultivate and maintain relationships and act as an inspiring and articulate spokesperson for the university, with external agencies, organizations and schools
- Generate, prepare and provide a variety of reports and data concerning admissions, recruitment and general office management
- Research and update admission practices, policies, and technology as needed
- Remain up-to-date on best practices in the field of admissions/enrollment management field
- Plan and manage admissions operational budget
- Other duties as needed or assigned by the Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university in a related field
- Demonstrated expertise in recruitment, including the ability to attain aggressive growth goals
- Five to seven years progressively responsible experience with undergraduate and graduate recruitment
- Experience and commitment to working with diverse populations
- Innovative self-starter able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, diplomacy, negotiation and public speaking skills
- Expertise with multi-tasking, organization and organizational skills
- Experience managing budgets and with creative resource utilization
- Strong analytic skills and experience with data-driven decision making
- A positive, results-oriented, flexible attitude that is supportive of the institutional directions and priorities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- At least five years of supervisory experience including hiring, training and performance management
- Ability to travel up to 6 weeks per year, ability to lift 30lbs box, and valid driver’s license
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Explorer and student information systems
- Prior experience and/or interest in progressive and contemplative education

Maitri Meditation Instructor
Position Title: Maitri Meditation Instructor
Department: MA Contemplative Counseling Psychology
Reports to: MACP Program Coordinator, supervised on-site by the Maitri Directors
Wage/Salary Range: $543, personal mileage reimbursement, room and board
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary:
The MACP Department is seeking Meditation Instructors for the new curriculum, 2-week format Maitri retreats to be held at Shambhala Mountain Center. Meditation Instructors need to be available 1-2 days prior to the start of the retreat, and will need to live on-site at Shambhala Mountain Center for the duration of the retreat. Openings exists for the following Maitri Retreats during the 2011-2012 academic year:
Maitri 4: January 15- 29, 2012
Maitri 2: February 26- March 11, 2012
Maitri Meditation Instructors are responsible for providing meditation instruction and general support/guidance to the student-participants through the rigorous, often confusing journey of the retreat.
Job Duties:
- Participates in all aspects of the retreat including sitting meditation, daily staff meetings, attending talks, community meetings, and helps to hold the “container” of the retreat.
- Meets with students as assigned within the Maitri retreat guidelines. Each MI is assigned 5 to 8 students that they see individually 3-6 times per week. MIs may also lead discussion groups that may meet several times per week.
- As appropriate, works with staff to manage and/or mediate student issues and educational obstacles
Qualifications:
- Must be a trained meditation instructor and experienced working with students practicing shamatha-vipashyna meditation and tonglen in the Shambhala tradition.
- Must have experience with Maitri Space Awareness practice
- Experience with and understanding of retreat environments.
- Must have the ability to work well on a team.
- Familiarity with Naropa’s MA Contemplative Psychotherapy program preferred

Job Summary:
The University is currently seeking an experienced professional to become the new Senior Vice President for Business Affairs & Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will serve as the University’s chief financial and administrative officer, managing all fiscal and non-academic matters relating to the operation of the University.
Job Duties:
The new Senior Vice President will oversee the following University departments: Accounting, Budget, Information Technology, Facilities Management, Legal, Human Resources, Campus Auxiliary Services, Safety & Security, Payroll, and
Transportation. Responsible for the University’s $22 million annual operating budget, the successful candidate will recommend and implement the operational, fiscal, and budget
policies, as well as the University’s master campus plan.
Minimum Qualifications:
The new Senior Vice President will be a seasoned professional with progressively responsible management experience in finance, technology, and/or operations, preferably in higher education. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to think strategically, and a demonstrated commitment to collaboration are required.
