Sick Leave
Sick leave is provided to all regular staff employees to be used in the event of a mental or physical illness or injury that is incapacitating or contagious, or for recovery from said illness or injury. Sick leave may also be used by employees to care for an immediate family member who is ill or injured. Ten days of paid sick leave per year of employment are provided to each full-time employee and prorated for less-than-full-time employees. Sick leave may be accrued from year to year up to a total of twenty days.
Naropa recognizes that many of our employees accrue and often carry the maximum sick days allowed. To provide an opportunity for employees to make use of that excess sick time, Naropa provides a “vacation exchange” option which allows employees to exchange two accrued sick day for one additional vacation day up to an annual five-day maximum.
