The Family Learning Center's Mission is to encourage successful lifelong learning and economic self-sufficiency for families of diverse cultures and limited incomes in a learning environment where families feel nurtured, respected and empowered.

The Center’s constituents are primarily residents of assisted-housing communities in the Boulder area (e.g. San Juan Del Centro, where our Center is located). For these residents, they endeavor to increase employment opportunities; to facilitate access to enhanced health and wellness; to provide quality daycare and preschool programs; to improve the educational performance of children of all ages; to promote economic self-reliance and self-sufficiency; to enhance parenting skills; and to break the bondage of prolonged cycles of poverty for individuals, trapped for generations in public and assisted housing.

Family Learning Center Staff do all of this in one central location.
Current programs include: Early Childhood (Preschool and daycare), School age (After-School, Summer, Back-to-School Supply Drive), Adult Literacy (ESL, GED, Computer, Family Management classes) and Community Outreach (Collaborative Partnerships, Indirect Program Service Delivery, Community Meeting Place, Crises Referral Services, Clothing and Food Bank).

Volunteer/Work Study Opportunities:

Early Childhood Program:
Volunteers are needed to assist preschool teachers with one-on-one activities with children ages 29 months to 5 years.

School-Age Program:
Volunteers are needed to serve as tutors and mentors for children in kindergarten through High School.

Adult Literacy:
Volunteers are needed to work one-on-one with adults enrolled in the Center’s English as a second language, GED, parenting, life skills, and computer classes.
