After receiving her undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Stanford
University, Alia studied Electrical Engineering at Stanford while working in
Silicon Valley. After a major life crisis, she found the joy of body movement
and dance and left the world of technology. In the 80s, through the discipline
of dance and subsequent interest in body work, she eventually discovered
Shamanism. This led her purposefully on a path of personal development. She
received her Masters Degree in Creation Spirituality from Holy Names College in
Oakland under the guidance of Matthew Fox. Subsequently, she committed to an
ever-unfolding spiritual journey of Sufism.
Alia is a spiritual teacher (Sheikha) and Regional Representative in the Sufi Movement International of the USA. She is an ordained interfaith minister and has worked as a hospice chaplain.
